Three Cheers for our American Neighbours (whoops, NeighBORS!)

Three cheers for the Red...

White...

and Blue!

Happy 4th of July to all my garden blogging buddies flung across the United States of America. It's interesting living next door to a country as diverse, as similar, and yet as different as yours is to mine. In the last year, I've learned a LOT more about the US, because of 'talking' with garden bloggers scattered from Maine to Texas, from Lousiana to California, from Arizona to the Heartland. I've learned I need to win the lottery because there are a LOT of places I'd love to visit in the great country next door, and I have you to thank for enriching my education and my perceptions.

Here's hoping you all celebrate a fabulous day today, and that the coming year brings new hope and joy for your country. With love from us lot up here in Canada...EH?

  1. In Poland there are also celebrations - American community is pretty strong and not leaving behind their tradition :)

  2. On behalf of all us Americans, thank you, Jodi. :) We will now commence the celebration of our country's birth by blowing things up...

  3. Thank you Jodi. Yes, our neighborhood was popping and booming last night. People couldn't wait until tonight to set off fireworks.

  4. Plenty of fireworks in my neighborhood, too. They started a few days ago. Tonight should be a wild fireworks display.

    Thanks for the nice post!

  6. Thank you, Jodi - your floral tributes for both Canada Day and July 4th were fun to see.
Here in Austin, my favorite local radio station played 'O Canada' for Canada Day ;-]

  8. How very thoughtful of you, jodi! No big plans here, but we always enjoy sitting on our porch in the dark and watching all the fireworks in the skies all around us on the horizon. Romie said we'd have a weenie roast, so I'm looking forward to that.

We'll be celebrating with extended family at the lake tomorrow. We're looking forward to that!

  9. A marching band from Ontario was in the Bristol parade today and I think I wore out my vocal chords cheering for them! Happy day, Jodi and thanks for being such a great neighbour.

  10. Thank you, Jodi! The fireworks are in full swing as I write this. I love to watch them but I hate breathing in the stinky smoke from them.

  11. And I love Canada and her wonderful citizens too! I'm like you... I need to have a huge windfall so I can visit Canada's varied provinces more often. It's been 5 years since we were across the border and that's 5 years too long.

  12. Awwwe, thanks. It was a good time had by all yesterday. And heck, what with most of California on fire anyway, whats a little more smoke to add to the overall air quality?

  13. Thanks, Jodi. I also like your floral tribute. July is really red, white & blue month. We've just made reservations to go out to dinner at a bistro for Bastille Day.

  14. Jodi: Celebrating with us is a great treat! Quiet here at ledge and gardens on the fourth! Just food, friends and laughter!

  15. Thank you, Jodi. I love your red, white, and blue tribute. I'm with you on winning the lottery--there are many places in Canada and the UK that I want to visit now!

  16. Hi Jodi, what a wonderful floral flag. I recognize the white anemone, are the reds poppies and the blue some type of forget me nots? All are utterly charming. Thanks for thinking of us. We heard lots of pops and whistles in our neighborhood that night and the big show at the regional park is unmistakeable with its frequency and volume of bursts. It looks like your garden is in full flamboyance.

  18. Ha! Had to laugh at the spelling in your post title. I often wonder if my American friends think I can't spell :)

  19. what a nice post. Thanks Jodi! I hope all is well in your neck of the woods...I hear it's as hot up your way as it is down here in New England. It's not that different over the border, aye?

  21. How nice, Jodi, thank you for the good wishes. We spent the Fourth a little closer to you---in New York City. Hope you do make a visit to Austin one of these days.
