They do not grow for me, no matter how beautiful they bat their eyes at me in the nurseries. I also never fall for the flashy hybrids of coneflowers. They all fail. I'm the Boston fern massacerer. I grow orchids, my property is a mecca for magnolia trees but Boston Ferns....forget it.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10272909221294270344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20831949.post-13140323763075251212014-06-22T11:14:50.180-03:002014-06-22T11:14:50.180-03:00So, you say, "We all have our weaknesses when...So, you say, "We all have our weaknesses when it comes to plants. Mine is David Austin roses." Hah! Isn't this whole post about your plant weaknesses :) ! I have tried a few of the plants you mentioned, but since we are zone 3a in Calgary, the only ones to survive are the anchusa and the lewisia. Blue alkanet is one of my favourite blue flowers to pair with pink foxglove and Russian sage, but it keeps disappearing over the winter in my garden too. I just read in the book, 'An American Cutting Garden' by Suzanne McIntire that we should 'Keep mulches away and allow good ventilation, as rot is a problem".
